Time Change AccidentsDaylight saving time in most of the United States ends at 2 a.m., local time, on Sunday, November 1, why we fall back. Whether you set your clocks back before retiring Saturday night, or wait until you rise Sunday, use the time change as a reminder to do a few things around the house:

  • Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Check the expiration dates on your smoke detectors. The date can be found inside the lid and they only last 3-5 years.
  • Schedule service for gas appliances.
  • Clean creosote out of fireplace flues.
  • Refill your first aid kit and refill your emergency preparedness kit. Fill it with enough supplies for a few days: snacks, medications, medical paperwork, flashlight, water, battery-operated radio, batteries, toiletries.
